
The CCJO regularly attends the annual sessions of the UN Human Rights Council, and the UN Sub-Commission on the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights. The CCJO also from time to time attends other UN meetings in New York, Geneva and elsewhere (including UNESCO in Paris).
The CCJO maintains active contacts with the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, and every year presents a prize to the winner of the Council's European Debating Contest.
CCJO, in collaboration with REDRESS, and under the auspices of the Clemens Nathan Research Centre, held a conference on Reparation for the victims of Genocide, Crimes against Humanity, and War Crimes. There were 26 speakers.
CCJO, under the auspices of the Clemens Nathan Research Centre, held a Conference on Foreign poolicy and Human Rights. The keynote speaker was Sir Jeremy Greenstock, and there were seven speakers.
In conjunction with Martinus Nijhoff Publishers, the CCJO under the auspices of the Clemens Nathan Research Centre held a conference on Terrorism and Human Rights at the International Institute for Strategic Studies, London. The keynote speech was given by General the Lord Guthrie of Craigiebank, GCB, LVO, OBE, Former Chief of the Defence Staff. There were seven other speakers and a panel discussion.
The CCJO under the auspices of the Clemens Nathan Research Centre, in conjunction with the Institute for Commonwealth Studies, London University, and Martinus Nijhoff, Publishers, held a colloquium on religion and human rights at the premises of the Institute. The keynote address was given by the Bishop of Oxford, and three panel discussions were held by some 15 academic and religious experts.
The CCJO, in conjunction with the International Bar Association and the Raoul Wallenberg Institute, held a workshop at the Raoul Wallenberg Institute's premises in Lund, Sweden, on the subject of International Fact Finding. Around 20 Experts participated from different countries.
The CCJO held a panel discussion on Counter-Terrorism and Human Rights as part of a conference on Terrorism's Global Impact' held in Herzliya, Israel, by the International Policy Institute on Counter-Terrorism, an Institute forming part of the Interdisciplinary Centre, Herzliya.
The CCJO participated in a Conference held in Berlin on Antisemitism by the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe attended by all States members of the OSCE and by many Jewish and other Non-government organisation. Among those addressing the conference were Colin Powell (US Secretary of State), Joschke Fischer (German Foreign Minister) and Natan Scharansky.
Under the joint auspices of the CCJO and the Anglo-Jewish Association, a lecture was given by Robert Badinter, Senator and Former Minister of Justice of France, on the European Constitution. The lecture was chaired by the Lord Chief Justice, Lord Woolf.
A lecture was given by Dr Bertrand Ramcharan, the United Nations Acting High Commissioner for Human Rights, at Chatham House on 'The Security Council and the Protection of Human Rights'.
The CCJO participated in the United Nations World Conference against Racism, held in Durban, South Africa. All States members of the United Nations took part, as well as over 1000 non-government organisation. It was preceded by many preparatory meetings, in most of which the CCJO also participated. The CCJO circulated seven papers relating to racism and human rights, all of which, together with other material, have since been published in book form.
